About the Author
Keith Tanner has been racing, modifying, and writing about Miatas for two decades and currently works full-time at a performance shop that pushes the boundaries of the little sports cars. At home, his garage contains a wide variety of cars that he’s built, ranging from a classic Land Rover to a 400-horsepower V8 rally Miata. He’s published four books in the Motorbooks Workshop series: Mazda Miata MX-5 Performance Projects; Mazda Miata: Find it, Fix it, Trick it; How to Build a High Performance Mazda Miata; and How to Build a Cheap Sports Car. Making a great car even better

The Miata is a great car off the lot, but everyone has different ideas of perfection and the canvas that the Miata provides is perfect for people to create their own vision of automotive perfection. As an autocross racer I'm obviously biased toward performance rather than comfort, and with the help of this book, I've been able to modify my car (and maintain it) to the point where I'm winning at the races. A good purchase, it's saved me hundreds in maintenance fees by being able to do the work myself. Well worth the money!

Great "how to" book for the performance oriented Miata owner

This is where Keith Tanner really shines! He has a way of explaining very simple to very complex projects that almost any Miata owner can benefit from. Some may find a few of the projects too simple (like explaining to the nube how to do their first oil change) but the book has plenty of more complex projects for those willing to take them on. When my wife accidentally "recycled" my old copy of this book, I promptly ordered a new one to help me through removing and replacing the head (for a valve job).
